Examination Requirements
The following requirements shall be fulfilled by every candidate to become eligible to appear for the final examinations.

No Student shall be permitted to appear for one or parts of BDS Examinations unless he / she has attended the course in the subject for the prescribed period and produces the necessary certificate of study, attendance and satisfactory conduct from the head of the Institution. |

A candidate is required to show a minimum of 80% attendance in both theory and practical / clinical classes individuallyin each subject so as to appear in the university examination. |

Considering all types of leave, including medical leave, attendance should not drop below 80% to be eligible to appear for the university examinations. |

In case of the subject in which there is no examination at the end of the academic year, the percentage of attendance shall be not less than 70%. However at the time of appearing for the professional examination in the subject the aggregate percentage of attendance in the subject should be not less than 80%. |

In case of students who have failed in more than one subject and not permitted to go to the next higher class, the attendance in those subjects in which student has failed, in the intervening period before appearing for the university exam should not be less than 75%.They should attend the internal assessment (Theory and Practical) in the subjects in which they have failed and should attend the additional classes conducted by the departments to improve their performance. |
B) INTERNAL ASSESSMENT MARKS
For I, II, III yr B.D.S ( REVISED FOUR YEAR PROGRAMME ) STUDENTS
The syllabus for each subject is divided into 6 equal units in an academic year. SixTheory internal assessment examinations and Two Model practical examinations will be conducted in an academic year to calculate theory and practical internal assessment marks in addition to Record and Clinical work done by the students.
Internal assessment marks (Theory)
Out of 6 theory terminal exams I, II, IV, V are minor exams, III, VI are major exams. Syllabus for these exams is as follows:

Each one of four minor (I, II, IV, V) internal assessment exams will be evaluated for 1.25 marks : 4 X 1.25 =5
Each one of two major (III, VI) internal assessment exams will be evaluated for 2.5 marks : >b>2 X 2.5 =5
Total Theory Internal assessment marks : 5 + 5= 10
Internal assessment marks (Practical/Clinical)
Two model practical examinations will be conducted per year. Each one of the 2 Model practical exams will be evaluated for 3 marks. 2X3= 6
Clinical work done by the students and record will be evaluated for 4 marks
Total Practical/ Clinical Internal assessment marks : 6 + 4= 10
Total marks for Internal assessment: (Theory + Practical/Clinical): 10 + 10 = 20
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT MARKS FOR PRE CLINICAL CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY/ PROSTHETICS
Two model practical examinations will be conducted per year. Each one of the 2 Model practical exams will be evaluated
for 5 marks. Clinical work done by the students and record will be evaluated for 10 marks
Total Practical Internal assessment marks : 10 + 10 =20
For IV yr B.D.S SEMESTER (REVISED FOUR YEAR PROGRAMME) STUDENTS
Three Theory internal assessment examinations and One Model practical examination will be conducted in a semester to calculate theory and practical internal assessment marks in addition to record and Clinical work done by the students.Out of the 3 Internal assessment examinations,I and II will be minor exams and III will be major exam.
Internal assessment marks (Theory)
Each one of the two minor exams (I, II) internal assessment exams will be evaluated for 2.5 marks 2×2.5=5
The major internal assessment exam (III) will be evaluated for 5 marks
Total Theory Internal assessment marks: 5 + 5 =10
Internal assessment marks (Clinical)
One model practical examination will be conducted per semester and will be evaluated for 5 marks. Clinical work done by the students and record will be evaluated for 5 marks.
Total Clinical Internal assessment marks : 5 + 5= 10
Total marks for Internal assessment :(Theory + Clinical) : 10 + 10=20
A minimum of 35% of internal assessment marks is required for a student to be permitted to appear for the University examination. A candidate should secure a minimum of 7 marks out of the 20 marks allotted for the internal assessment.
